On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, investigators with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office arrested Eric Rick, 39, of Oklahoma City for possession of child pornography. A tip was referred to Canadian County Sheriff’s Office by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit regarding Rick possessing contraband images of children. This tip originated from Microsoft Bing administrators when they conducted an audit of Rick’s account and found he uploaded child pornography. The image was of a female child with approximate age between 6 to 12 posing nude.
Rick uploaded the photograph to Microsoft Bing to locate more images of the child nude. Rick used various search engines to locate and download child pornography, including a search engine from Russia. Rick was interviewed and admitted to investigators that he downloaded child pornography and sought specific children in his searches. He admitted to looking for specific female children, and would then upload the photographs to reverse image search engines to locate their nude photographs.
A Canadian County Sheriff’s Office forensic investigator conducted forensic examinations of Rick’s electronic devices while at Rick’s residence, and multiple images of child pornography were located on his cell phone and laptop. The images Rick had in his possession were images of female children under the age of 10 posing nude. Some images in Rick’s possession were of young female children being raped by adult men.
Once investigators were able to conduct a thorough and comprehensive forensic examination of Rick’s electronic devices, hundreds of images of child pornography were located. Also located on Rick’s cellular phone were TikTok videos of female minor children dancing. The female children in the videos appeared to be in the same age range as the victims contained in the child pornography Rick collected.
Rick was arrested without incident for one count of possession of child pornography and one count of aggravated possession of child pornography. Rick was transported to the Canadian County Detention Center and is currently in custody with a bond of fifty thousand dollars. Investigators are currently determining if other charges will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office.
“I hope and pray there aren’t any hands on victims, and I’m asking anyone with information to contact my office,” said Chris West, Canadian County Sheriff.
