On Monday, Sheriff Chris West announced that he had hired Phil Blevins of Minco, Oklahoma as the new Commander of the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, Investigations Division. 

Blevins, a retired Air Force National Guard First Sergeant has worked in law enforcement for over twenty years, and worked as a Patrol Officer at the Union City Police Department and as the Chief of Police at Minco PD.  In 2013 Blevins began working at the Grady County Sheriff’s Office, and worked assignments in the Patrol Division, as an Investigator, Investigations Commander, and as the Grady County Undersheriff.

From 1976 until 1983, Blevins worked in the Oklahoma Army National Guard as an Artilleryman, and as a Military Policeman.  In 1983, Blevins transferred to the Air National Guard and worked his way to First Sergeant in Law Enforcement, and Security Forces.

As the Investigations Division Commander, Blevins will have the rank of Captain with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office.

“I was in need of someone with Captain Blevins’ background in both investigative matters, as well as in administrative and managerial oversight.  I’m very grateful God placed him in our path, and I’m confident Phil will lead his unit with competence, professionalism and integrity,” said Chris West, Canadian County Sheriff.
