On Tuesday, January 17th at around 6:30 pm, a deputy with the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office stopped a gray colored 2012 GMC SUV with New Jersey plates for a traffic violation along Interstate 40 & Radio Road in Canadian County.  Upon making contact with the driver, the deputy learned the vehicle did not belong to the driver and the deputy became suspicious of the driver’s story concerning his travel between Las Vegas, Nevada and New Jersey.  The deputy requested consent to search the vehicle, to which the driver granted permission.  A sheriff’s office canine drug detector dog was called to the scene, and a positive alert to the presence of illegal narcotics was made by the canine.   A search of the vehicle revealed it had been altered and a modified hidden compartment was located. The deputy found what appeared to be aftermarket wiring and was able to jump the compartment causing it to open.  Inside the hidden compartment, deputies discovered approximately 40 kilos of cocaine.  The driver, identified as Terrell Walker, 42 of Las Vegas, Nevada was placed under arrest and transported to the Canadian County Jail where he was booked on Aggravated Drug Trafficking (Cocaine).  Walker remains in custody with his bond set at fifty thousand dollars.  The street value of the drugs is estimated to be over half a million dollars.

“I’m extremely pleased with the performance of my deputies during this stop which resulted in a very significant drug bust,” said Canadian County Sheriff Chris West.
