David is a veteran of the United States Navy. He served on the USS Mars AFS-1 during the Viet Nam War.

David began his Criminal Justice Career with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections in 1974. He served as a Correctional Officer, Case Manager, and Parole Board Investigator.

In 1976, David graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glencoe, Georgia and the United States Secret Service Academy in Washington D.C. As a Secret Service Special Agent, David was assigned to the Oklahoma City field office, then housed in the Oklahoma City Murrah Building. He served under President Ford’s and Carter’s administration.

The irregular work demands of a Secret Service agent resulted in David spending too much time away from home. He returned to the Department of Corrections in 1980. There, he held positions as Sentence Administration Auditor, Deputy Warden, and Assistant to the Inspector General.

In 1998, David retired from state service and moved to the private sector. He served as Vice President of Talon Executive Services, a California based Security Company, Facility Director and Vice President of Avalon Correctional Services, Inc., an Oklahoma based private Corrections Firm, and Vice Chair of the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board.

David has also held positions of Veteran’s Education Services Coordinator at Seminole State College and Veterans Community Outreach Liaison, a federal grant program providing supportive services for veteran families.

David holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Central Oklahoma. He attended graduate school in Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma. He possesses a Master of Science Degree in Sociology, with a Thesis in Corrections/Criminology at Oklahoma State University.
